Another short update on what I have been up to in the second half  of September – beginning of October  2019.

Another Project Finished

Today I had zoom meeting with creators of the software product I have been testing as a volunteer for the last 2 months. It was a great opportunity to learn and practice testing. Of course, there is always more work to do, but  I decided that I need to take a break and then move forward. Will use that time to finish (just 4 assessments left!) online TAFE course (New Small Business) I started almost a year ago.

Despite the fact that this short project took only 2 months I learned a lot and according to feedback that I received, provided some value to the owners and developers. I am going to create a separate page for my portfolio where I will summarise details of these projects.

Javasript Practice

Recently I have been using Selenium IDE (Chrome extension) to learn and practice test automation. It is considered a codeless tool, suitable for beginners. This is the main reason why I decided to try it. However, after some time I started to ask myself how can I create a more complex and robust test? It turned out that Selenium IDE allows executing Javascript snippets within tests. This is how I started to learn JS basics, using DOM to locate web elements and manipulate them using console. JS is great option to start learning programming languages and it is also very useful in testing.

Next Steps

Well, I decided to continue to develop my skills and use another way to do it, not only self-study. In short, I found the automation  training course (2 weeks) + Internship (2 months). The good thing that  there is an option to attend course on Saturdays and attend Internship 3 days a week which could allow me to combine my part-time job and training

Recently I’ve been using Alan’s resources and tutorials a lot. So I decided to subscribe and become his patron on patreon. So many useful information and insights to learn from for just $1 per month.  Recommended!

Tools,  Courses, Random Links on Testing

I usually write one blog post every two weeks. Within that period of time I stumble upon a lot of resources and tools related to testing.  So, to make it easier  I will just list them
